The collaboration will lead to expansion in access to Cambridge ESOL English language qualifications for all Kaplan International Colleges students

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and Kaplan International Colleges have signed an agreement for Kaplan International Colleges to run a number of Cambridge ESOL’s computer-based English tests at Kaplan International Colleges schools throughout the UK and Ireland.

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations provides a world-leading range of certificates for learners and teachers of English. Kaplan International Colleges provides English language and university preparation programmes as well as Cambridge Exam Preparation courses. This agreement will give thousands of Kaplan International Colleges students access to the Cambridge ESOL qualifications, starting in January 2010.

Cambridge ESOL is offering a growing number of exams that can be taken as computer-based tests, making it possible to add more exam dates, shorten registration times, and speed up access to results with scores available three weeks after the test.

Kaplan International Colleges schools are located in nine key cities and towns throughout the UK and have a strong tradition of delivering English Language Training programmes. Many of these schools have provided exam training courses for Cambridge Examinations for years. Each school has state-of-the-art IT and wireless facilities including the latest animation and media software, and advanced encryption for high security for the computer-based exams.

“Being able to prove your English language skills in challenging economic times can be the difference between taking that next step or not,” explains Sean Hayde, Cambridge ESOL’s Head of Sales. “Whether for exam preparation, work or study, it is more important than ever for students to have access to internationally accepted language qualifications as part of their progression and we look forward to working with Kaplan International Colleges on this project."

“Partnering with Cambridge ESOL to support the expansion of their computer-based tests at our centres is an exciting step for Kaplan International Colleges,” said Erez Tocker Managing Director of Kaplan International Colleges Europe. “With quality at the core of our programmes, we have been helping students achieve their educational and career goals for more than 40 years. We are thrilled to be working with the gold standard of qualifications for students and teachers of English.”

Kaplan International Colleges and Cambridge ESOL are looking forward to developing further links and projects together in the coming months.
