Glasgow International College (GIC) is a joint educational partnership between the prestigious University of Glasgow (GU) and Kaplan International Colleges. Our Foundation courses, Diploma courses and Pre-Masters courses enable talented international students to translate their academic achievements at home into a degree from one of the UK’s leading universities. When the International College opened in 2007, it was the first partnership of its kind anywhere in Scotland, UK.

Foundation, Diploma & Pre-Masters Courses in Glasgow, Scotland, UK

Each course at Glasgow International College comprises of specific subject modules, academic study skills and English language modules at university level. Admission to the University of Glasgow is guaranteed upon successful completion of your course to the required level.

  • Foundation Certificate courses: Equivalent to Year 1 of an undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow. Successful completion of the foundation course guarantees fast-track admission into Year 2 at the University of Glasgow, with Business and Engineering students progressing to the GIC Diploma course.

  • Diploma courses: Fast track to Year 3 of a four-year undergraduate degree.

  • Pre-Masters courses: Guaranteed admission to a taught postgraduate degree in your chosen subject upon successful completion to the required level.

  • Pre-Sessional English course: Students who do not meet our English entry criteria will be contacted regarding our Pre-Sessional English language course. This course will fit into their study plan so they are able to join the next appropriate intake for their pathway program.

Glasgow International College Student Accommodation in Scotland

Arriving in a foreign country can be a daunting and exciting experience, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you. We try to arrange everything in advance so when you arrive we meet you at the airport and take you directly to your accommodation. Glasgow International College students can take advantage of a range of accommodation options, including some of the following:

Kelvinhaugh Gate

A University of Glasgow Hall of Residence located 10 minutes’ walk from the International College. This residence has furnished single bedrooms with private shower rooms and is in self contained cluster flats for three and five persons. It isavailable as a two-term rental for pre-Masters course students.

Kelvinhaugh Street

A University of Glasgow Hall of Residence located 10 minutes’ walk from the International College. This residence has furnished single bedrooms in self-contained cluster flats for three and five persons, and is available as a two-term rental for Foundation Certificate, Diploma and pre-Masters course students.

Murano Street

A University of Glasgow Hall of Residence located within a 30-minute walk to the International College. This residence is available as a two-term rental for Foundation Certificate, Diploma and pre-Master course students.

Queen Margaret Residence

A University of Glasgow Hall of Residence located within a 25-minute walk to the International College. This residence is available as a two-term rental for Foundation Certificate, Diploma and pre-Masters course students.

Gibson Street

A UNITE Accommodation Hall of Residence located 15 minutes’ walk from the International College. This residence is available as a two-term rental for Foundation Certificate, Diploma and pre-Masters course students.
