Work and Study New Zealand courses are a fantastic opportunity to greatly improve your English, and to gain valuable working experience to boost your CV. You’ll be able to work in a variety of industries, including retail, service and agriculture.

What are Work and Study New Zealand Courses?

Work and Study New Zealand courses allow you to study English in New Zealand, and then set you up with 3 job interviews in the service, retail, hospitality and agriculture industries, allowing you to gain valuable work experience when you’re fresh out of senior school or university.

Your Work and Study coordinator will provide application support and organize up to three job interviews for you. The type of work you may do could vary from working in hotels and retail stores to waiting tables in bars and restaurants, picking fruit in the fields or cleaning. Your level of English and visa type will determine your length of study and your ability to work – so please check out the visa requirements or contact us if you’re not sure.

Working Holiday English: Every Monday (Working Holiday Visa holders only)
Course Length:
Intensive English Work and Study: 32 weeks (8 months) (+ 3 placement interviews)

Working Holiday English: 12 weeks (+ 3 placement interviews)

Minimum Age: 18
Requirements:

English: Intermediate English - IELTS 5.0 (may be obtained after arrival - additional fees). A free English test will be conducted to determine level

Visa:

Intensive English Work and Study: Student Visa

Working Holiday English: Working Holiday Visa

Class Size: 10–15
Lessons per Week: 28 General English (21 hours) (+ 3 job interviews in total)
Timetable: All courses are Monday-Friday, with morning and afternoon classes only (general timetable below)

Course Structure

45 mins per lesson for a minimum of 12 weeks.

28 Lessons of General English:

Focuses on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. These courses offer a semi-intensive English education that will help you learn quickly and effectively.

3 Job Interviews (in total):

Interviews can take the form of trials or informal meetings. Previous experience may be required for some roles.

Student Visa holders will study while undertaking their Work and Study placement, where as Working Holiday Visa holders will study before commencing their Work and Study placement.

Certification

At the end of the course, receive a Kaplan International Colleges Certificate of Achievement documenting your language level and attendance.
