Length: 4 week full-time course (plus 60 hours pre-course preparation). 12 week part-time courses are available in Cairns.
Recommended ages: 18 +
English Entry Requirements: Awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken. For non native speakers, a proficiency plus level or IELTS 8.0+ would be required for entry to this course. Their English will be assessed at the acceptance interview and in the pre-interview tasks. The acceptance is always at the discretion of the Centre.
Academic Entry Requirements: Degree preferred but not essential, awareness of language systems and a competence in English, both written and spoken. Candidates must have a level of education which would allow them to enter University (UE or NCEA Level 2 in NZ) although a degree is preferred.
Application: Once students have applied, have taken the interview and been accepted onto the CELTA program, they are required to complete a task of 20 assignments by the commencement date of the course. Download the more CELTA information and an application form here!

Assessment of all components of the course (teaching practice, four written assignments and professional development) is on a continuous basis and there is no final examination. The course is internally assessed and externally moderated by an assessor who is approved by Cambridge ESOL and the final certificate is issued by Cambridge ESOL.
CELTA is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English Language teachers. The Cambridge CELTA has been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework. Cambridge ESOL also works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of CELTA globally.
