2007 was a busy year for Kaplan International Colleges. The buzzwords that sum up Kaplan International Colleges - choice and quality have been proved again this year.
Kaplan International Colleges' reputation and track record within the UK's higher education sector has continued to strengthen. The quality of our programmes is renowned - not suprising when you consider our quality assurance measures and track record. 2007 saw a repeat of 2006 with a pass rate of 90-100% depending on the course and between 80-90% gaining a grade A or B. Students have been placed at some wonderful institutions - all selected by the students themselves with our guidance to ensure they enter the best university for their chosen subject and their individual needs and tastes.
A levels students: Kaplan International Colleges A level students achieved 100% pass rate! All our 2007 graduates gained at least one grade A and one student excelled with 5! Not surprisingly, all students entered top 15 universities: Warwick, University College London and Aston.
Certificate of Higher Education in Business & Management: 2007 saw our first group of CHEBM students graduate and enter directly into year 2 at university. 60% of them gained a Distinction (grade A) and have entered excellent institutions including top 20 Universities: Exeter and East Anglia.
International Foundation Certificate: Our foundation students entered 31 different universities, with 21 students enrolling at top 30 universities in September.
Pre-Masters and Pre-MBA preparation: Similarly, our postgraduate students also made the most of the choice that Kaplan International Colleges offers, with 36 universities welcoming our Pre-Masters and Pre-MBA students, 12 of which are in the top 20.
London: new premises
With the merger of Kaplan and Aspect, our London International Foundation Certificate (validated by the University of Wales) and Pre-Masters/Pre-MBA courses were successfully moved to our new London Leicester Square college. The school Principal, Clade Edwards says, “We have managed to increase the student resources. Not only do students have the online electronic library from the University of Wales but a multimedia centre with extended hours to include evenings and weekends. We also have three reference libraries on our door step! Teachers take students to the British Library for research”
Students enjoy being in the centre of all the bustle of London with 6 excellent universities on their doorstep. So far this year, our London students have visited London Goldsmiths College, Westminster University and the University of East London. The University Fair in October was also a great success with 7 London universities attending along with 5 others including Nottingham, Birmingham & Glasgow Caledonian. Students are now preparing for the next fair in London on 22nd January when a further 10 institutions will join us including York, Reading & Surrey. The fairs are intended to give students the opportunity to informally chat to the university representatives to help them choose which is the right university for them.
October saw our first start of Bournemouth University's International Foundation Certificate students at Kaplan International Colleges Bournemouth. Students had the fantastic opportunity to settle into the UK in the safety of a smaller college renowned for offering exceptional one-to-one attention while gaining full university student status. This enables students to use the Bournemouth University facilities, including campus accommodation alongside local university students. Bournemouth University is dynamic and innovative, not only rising rapidly up the league tables but also becoming one of the most popular universities in the UK.
