Bob Marley Helps Music Lovers to Learn English

Bob Marley's music is the most popular choice for people learning English, according to Kaplan International Colleges.

The Kaplan study showed that the Jamaican singer-songwriter's music and lyrics assists the largest number of people who are studying to improve their language skills.

Kaplan asked hundreds of their current and previous students whether watching television and films, playing video games and listening to music helped them on their English learning journey.

The language courses provider discovered that listening to music helped 80% of people learn English. 14% said the iconic reggae songs of Bob Marley, such as "No Woman, No Cry", "Stir It Up", and "One Love", were the most useful for enhancing their understanding of the English language.

Bob Marley prevailed over competition from pop royalty Michael Jackson and Madonna who polled 11% and 8% of the vote respectively. Surprisingly, there was no room for rock legends such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Despite having millions of fans and followers on social media, today's current chart-toppers Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber combined were able to gather only half of the votes garnered by Marley, whose timeless music continues to enjoy widespread global popularity.

"Our father's legendary music has touched and moved so many people. It's exciting to find out that his story-telling lyrics can enhance students' understanding of the English language," said Cedella Marley.
