Brazilian Students Celebrate Wedding at Kaplan's Sydney School
Love was in the air at KIC Sydney City on November 12th, as two popular Kaplan students, William Rodrigo Varago and Soraia Gouvea De Paula celebrated their wedding. They first met in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2006 and after seven years together decided to learn English in Australia.
William and Soraia joined Kaplan in August and became well known in the college as two of the most diligent and outgoing students. Soraia announced the news to student services that she had set the date for her special day but needed advice about where to buy the perfect wedding dress.
Sarah Beardsley, Student Services Officer, was on hand to help Soraja find the best ensemble. Sarah was even appointed as one of the witnesses for the wedding ceremony at a nearby Registry Office in Sydney's CBD, which was attended by few of the couple's closest friends.
The jubilant couple then headed off for a celebratory lunch, whilst Belinda Ramasawmy and Emma Mannering of Student Services prepared the most beautiful wedding reception to give them on the balcony of KIC Sydney City.
The students and their teachers lined up on the balcony along with Principal Julie Delaney to greet them and a great cheer went up from the crowd as the duo walked down the "aisle" as newlyweds. Students of all ages and nationalities came together to help celebrate the special occasion.
Principal Delaney said: "It was very exciting that Soraia and William chose to marry while studying at KIC Sydney City and to include us on their very special day. We were happy to be involved in the planning of their wedding and to surprise them with our first KIC Sydney City wedding reception!"
Kaplan's English school in Sydney is located in the center of Australia's most famous city, close to Sydney Harbour and the iconic Opera House. Nearby is Bondi Beach, Australia's most popular strip of shoreline.
