Technology

Technology is constantly evolving. You’ll know this yourself if you follow the latest product launches from the likes of Apple and Microsoft. But do you ever stop to think about the people working on these behind the scenes?

With more innovation in the sector than ever before, many top employers are looking for talented people to help them develop new technologies and stand out from the competition.

In addition, as cyber threats continue to spread across the world, a lot of companies are investing in cyber security professionals to deal with these issues and protect their businesses both now and in the future.

What’s more, the demand for specific IT roles is set to shift in the next couple of years, with more of a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR). That means you could be working on some very exciting projects.

Construction

Job vacancies in the construction industry were at a six-month high in June 2018, with CV-Library data revealing that available jobs had grown consistently each month throughout the course of the year.

What’s more, research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) found that the sector’s workload is continuing to grow, making the outlook for this industry extremely positive.

As a result, the UK’s construction industry will need a quarter of a million workers in the next two years, proving that this sector offers fantastic job security.

Engineering

It was announced by the government earlier this year that 2018 was set to be the ‘Year of Engineering’, in a bid to tackle the engineering skills gap and encourage more young people to consider this profession.

With more investment from the government and companies across the sector, this is clearly paying off. In fact, according to data from The Engineer’s Salary Survey, graduate/junior engineers can earn an average of £30,557 per year: a pretty hefty amount!

The industry plays a key role in the UK’s economy and there are many routes into a job in engineering, whether it’s a traineeship, apprenticeship, or graduate program.

As a result, the industry is growing at a rapid pace and data from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies has found that demand for finance professionals across the country remains strong.

In addition to this, UK-based financial technology firms expect 88 per cent growth over the next three years, according to a global fintech survey by the London Stock Exchange Group and TheCityUK. Only Germany expected a higher rate of growth.

Consequently, the digital marketing industry is fast growing, as many companies invest in this area to boost their brand.

In fact, the London Stock Exchange’s 2017 round-up of the top 1000 dynamic SMEs found that businesses in the marketing and advertising sectors were some of the fastest growing in the UK, with growth rates of up to 90%.
