英語には似ているような意味をもっている単語が沢山あります。今回の英語クリニックではsince と for の使い分けを説明します。
一見簡単な英語ほど使い分けが難しかったりします。使い分けをできるようになって、英語力をアップしましょう！Since と Forの組み合わせは、一見似ていますが、使い分けが必要です。
“since”
～から今までのことを話すときに使います。一般的に完了形の時制のみに使うことができます。
- I have known her since June.
- Allison hasn’t been to that restaurant since her birthday.
- He’s wanted to learn about penguins since we went to the zoo.
“for”
決まった時間を話す場合に使われます。 “For”はどの時制でも使うことが可能です。
- I have known her for 2 years.
- Allison hasn’t been to that restaurant for a few months.
- He talked about penguins for the entire trip to the zoo.
- Gennaro will live in London for 6 months.
