挨拶のすぐ後に続ける会話としてよくつかわれるお天気の話題ですが、今日は天気の話題をできるようになるためのお手伝いをします。
海外では様々な場面でスモールトークという挨拶に続く短い会話をすることがあります。この会話をすることで、様々なコミュニケーションがより円滑になるとも言われています。
天気に関する質問の言い方の一例
- How’s the weather? or What’s it like out there? 天気はどうですか？
- Is it hot or cold? 暑いですか？寒いですか？
- Is it sunny? 晴れていますか？
- Is it raining? 雨が降っていますか？
- Beautiful day, isn’t it? 美しい（天気の）日ですね（同調を求める）
- What’s the weather forecast? (What is the weather expected to be like?) 天気予報はどうなっていますか？
天気の質問に関する答えの一例
- Today it is warm and sunny out. 今日は暖かく、晴れています
- It’s so cold out there! 寒いです
- The sun is very bright today, you might want to take sunglasses. 凄く天気がいいので、サングラスをかけたくなるかもしれません
- It’s not raining, but it is cloudy. 雨は降っていませんが、曇りです。
- It is! I’m so happy the sun is shining. お日様が輝いているのでうれしいです
- They’re saying blue skies and hot! 彼らは青空で暑いと言っています
天気にまつわる役立つ単語
below freezing: 氷点下
It’s supposed to be below freezing today. I should wear my gloves.
今日は氷点下になるでしょう。手袋をつけるべきです。
boiling hot: 凄く暑い
It was boiling hot, so we decided to stay inside.
凄く暑かったので、室内にいることに決めました
breeze:そよ風; breezy: そよ風がふく
Maybe you shouldn’t wear a hat, it’s breezy out today.
多分帽子をかぶらないほうがいいよ。そよ風がふいているから
chilly: 肌寒い
I always wear a scarf when it’s chilly.
肌寒い時、私はいつもスカーフを巻く。
drizzling: 霧雨
I don’t think you’ll need an umbrella, it’s only drizzling.

overcast: a gray sky with no sun visible どんよりした曇り
