There are times when people talk about the containers that items are stored in. It is useful to know which containers hold which foods. Here is some common vocabulary for containers and what they hold.
쇼핑을 할때 음식이 어떠한 보관장소에 있는아이템들이 있는데 예를들면 캔꽁치 같은것들이 있죠! 이런 보관캔이나 통 안에 들어있는 음식을 칭하는 영어가 있습니다 ! :) 한번 알아볼까요?
barrel: Barrels are large, waterproof wooden containers that hold large amounts of liquid.
Barrel : 사이즈가 크며 나무로 만들어져있는 방수효과가 있는 통입니다. 보통 액체를 담는데 사용을 합니다. :)
예 : barrel of whisky(위스키통), barrel of wine(와인통)
bottle: Bottles are glass or plastic containers with narrow tops used for liquids
Bottle : 유리로 되어있는 보통 액체를 담는 병을 말합니다.
bottle of juice, bottle of water, bottle of soda
주스병, 물병, 소다병
carton: Cartons are normally waxed cardboard containers that hold liquid or things that are not completely solid
Carton: Carton 은 우리나라 식으로 말을 하면 곽이라고 할수 있죠. 마분지 같은 단단한 종이에 보통 액체나, 액체와 고체 사이의 음식을 보관할때 칭합니다.
예 : carton of milk, carton of ice cream, egg carton
예 : 우유곽, 아이스크림곽, 계란곽
can/tin (US/UK): Cans are usually made of metal.
Can/Tin(US/UK) : 미국에서는 보통 Can 이라고 하고, 영국에서는 Tin 이라고 칭합니다. 우리식으로 말하면 캔 통조림을 말할때 칭합니다.
예 : can of beans, tin of tuna,
콩캔통조림, 참치 캔 통조림.
case: Cases are large containers usually used to transport many of the same item for purchase. Most things come in cases at some point in the process.
case : case는 큰 저장공간 상자같은것을 말합니다.
case of beer bottles, case of cereal boxes, case of canned corn
crate: Crates are wooden or plastic boxes that are frequently used for storing or carrying larg amounts of something.
Create : 사과상자나 감자상자등을 칭하는 수납상자를 말합니다.

jar: Jars are made of glass.
Jar : 유리병으로 된 병을 말하며 잼같은 음식을 보관하는 병입니다.
jarred sauce, jar of jam (or you might hear someone talk about a “jam jar”), jar of peanut butter, jar of mayonnaise
소스병, 잼병(jar of jam 이라고 하지만 간단히 Jam jar 라고 합니다), 땅콩 버터 병, 마요네즈 병
pitcher: Pitchers are large plastic or glass containers that are open at the top with a lip and a handle, used for pouring liquids.
pitcher : 우리나라에서는 보통 맥주 한피쳐 이렇게 많이 쓰고 있습니다 :) 큰 플라스틱 혹은 유리병에 물, 레몬에이드, 맥주등을 담을때 쓰입니다.
